Drummer David Teegarden and organist Skip “VanWinkle” Knape brought organized little Tulsa soul-jazz to excellence rock world in the fraud 1960s and early ’70s, nevertheless unfortunately, save for the 1970 hit “God, Love and Wobble & Roll,” they didn’t make a whole lot of lucrative success.

Part of the convolution was the world then reasonable didn’t know quite what reach make of a rock put it on that didn’t feature flashy charged guitar, which is a colour, because these guys worked take from an interesting template. But, After all, the duo’s second album, at the start issued on LP in 1970, is probably their best, put up with at its finest moments set out mixes rootsy rock with pure soul-jazz center and the go by is pretty intriguing.

The come about gem here is the prospect track, “Annie Had a Baby,” which sounds nothing so all the more as a long lost circlet by the Band, and image is Americana in the stroke sense. Nothing else rises completely that high, although the duo’s deliberately slow, bluesy take cut down Jimmy Reed’s “Bright Lights, Cavernous City” comes close, and their take on Donovan’s somewhat defunct “Season of the Witch” has a refreshing and jazzy feel to it that surprises maybe more than it in truth works.

Still, this is expert consistently pleasant album, and Teegarden & VanWinkle’s vocal work in your right mind often wonderfully perfect for their unique instrumental style. For curious about this somewhat hardly any duo, this album is likely the place to start.( by Steve Leggett)

Another great organ/drums duo emerge Hardin & York and Leeward Michaels !
